By combining determination, experience and open mindedness, DVP created DVP LAB, an innovative laboratory that stands out as a real technological minihub: from engineering to physics, from mechanics to chemistry, without ever forgetting electronics, mechatronics, and IT simulation.
DVP aims to strengthen its cooperation with scientific hubs, industrial partners and universities, to develop innovative scenarios and to stand out as excellence in vacuum technologies. Our R&I Team constantly works to improve the way our pumps are built, used, and perform. New geometries, new materials, new functions, new accessories: everything it takes to match all of our customers need.
Our research lines:
IoT: Sensors and Telemetry
Predictive Maintenance
Machine Learning
Simulations & Calculations
Additive Manufacturing
Augmented Reality
New Materials
New Business Models
Some of our projects:
AdaptShield
an integrated system delivering automatic protection to ‘primary pump plus booster’ systems, allowing shorter pump down times and increased energy efficiency. The AdaptShield system optimizes pumps performance thanks to its unique combination of fast hardware and pressure differential control algorithm.

StarLink
the first predictive maintenance system designed for vacuum pumps. StarLink combines the versatility of IoT (telemetry, smartphone and tablet operativity, cloud-based management, remote assistance) and the power of Machine Learning to improve pumps performance, avoid unexpected downtime, save energy, and simplify costs and spare parts management.
This project was co-founded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), “Bando per progetti collaborativi di ricerca e sviluppo delle imprese (DGR 773/2015)”, Asse 1 – Azione 1.1.1. e 1.1.4 del POR-FESR Emilia-Romagna 2014-2020.
This project has received funding form the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 815698.
Active Noise Reduction
(in collaboration with the University of Ferrara)
real-time creation of computer-generated soundwaves designed to match and cancel the soundwaves generated by pumps and drives, drastically cutting the noise from the system.
Machine Learning for vibrational vacuum systems
(in collaboration with the University of Ferrara)
Big Data collection of performing pumps vs. failing pumps and post-processing algorithms to enable accurate early failure detection and real-time predictive maintenance.
Industrial Design
rethinking volumes, surfaces and materials to meaningfully merge engineering with aesthetics.
